Holy Weekend, Batman!

I am on cloud nine. No, really, I am! And yes, it's Monday :). 
I had an amazing weekend, and I only have to work one job this week {plus earn overtime}! And...it's Valentine's Day this week! What could be better, really? 
Colten's mom came down to visit for the weekend and arrived on Friday night. Saturday, we started the morning with a trip to AT&T. Colten has been looking into their next program, and we went for more information. He has been in dire need of a new phone, as his was on the fritz and needed to be put out of its misery! So, we headed in, and little did we know that we'd be spending three hours there! 

When the employee calculated our plan to upgrade Colten's phone on the next program, we would actually be saving money on our monthly bill. Umm, yes please! The phone plan is calculated differently, as there's not an actual contract, and we had to change our data plan. Before, Colten was grandfathered into the unlimited data plan {which he never let me forget by the way...thanks babe!}. Upgrading with the next program, he would lose that option, which meant we had to go to a shared data plan instead of paying for both of ours separately. Anyway, after a lot of phone jargon and calculations, we were set on Colten's new phone - the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. That's right, he left the iPhone family! 

Okay, let me stop for a moment to just say how amazing the guy that was helping us really was. Seriously. He took his time {obviously, we were there for 3 hours}, but he answered every single one of our questions and recalculated everything several times to make sure the charges were right and that we were getting the best deal possible. Colten got $50 back for his old phone, which went to the cost of the taxes we'd have to pay that day. Other than that, we wouldn't have to pay for any of the phone right then. It would be added in to our monthly bill, which ultimately came out cheaper than what we had been paying - have I said that already? Oops. But it's important, here! :) 

The employee also asked if Colten still worked for HEB - umm, yes! To receive the discount on our monthly bill, he needed a pay stub. So, off Colten went back home to print out a pay stub, since we were just down the street. While he was gone, the guy accidentally put the upgrade on my line instead of Colten's. Womp womp. Or was it? 

He then calculated what our monthly plan would be if we both upgraded on the next program, and lo and behold, it would be $2 more expensive on our monthly bill, but still cheaper than what we have been paying month after month. So, long story short, I upgraded as well. But, seeing as I had no intentions of doing so until next month when my 2 year contract was up, I didn't know exactly what phone I wanted. And, playing with Colten's new one, the Android was somewhat appealing. Ultimately, I also left the iPhone family and bought the LG G Flex! 

There was also a promotion going on {of course...}: if you bought the Jawbone Jambox which usually valued at $199 {umm, no thanks} for $150 {still, no thanks}, you got a phone case & a car charger absolutely free {say what?!}. So, on Colten's upgrade, he got a free otterbox case for his phone AND a car charger, and we paid for the Jambox...pretty good deal! But wait, it gets better! Since I was also upgrading, he ran my phone, and I got $110 back for it! So, when it was all said and done {we only did the jambox promotion once, as we didn't want or need two of them...}, we paid $118 for two new phones, a jambox, and a car charger - a total value of $1698. Score! There was also an incentive to pay an additional $5 per month {I think} for the 10GB shared data plan. Now, let's think about this: 10GB for two people and our monthly bill would STILL BE CHEAPER THAN WE HAVE BEEN PAYING?! No.brainer. :) 

When we were done, the guy ran Colten's mom's plan to see what it would be if she were to upgrade using the next program, and no surprise here, she would end up saving money on her monthly bill as well! She also got the LG G Flex phone, and we said goodbye to our iPhones. All three of us! Needless to say, we put that guy through the ringer, and we all saved money! We also had to learn how to use our new phones, as we had never owned an Android before... Colten's mom did the same deal for the jambox, but the guy {I told you, he was awesome} gave her two cases for free, which meant I was also able to get a free phone case instead of forking out the $40! 

Upon leaving AT&T {finally}, we picked up lunch and took it to my sister at work, as promised! We may or may not have been a little super late...sorry Hil! But, it all worked out fine, and she was pretty entertained for her lunch break! We also got to see where she worked at the hospital, so that was pretty cool! And, it's always good to see my sister, so it was just a win win all the way around! She was also giving us Android lessons, haha!

We had some other errands to run and some more shopping to do, and we finally made it home around 8:00pm or so. We pretty much spent that night playing with our new phones! There's so much to customize in so little time ;). Then, it was late and we had the munchies - so it only made sense for a late night Wal-Mart run! We bought some junk food and settled in for the night. Seriously perfect. I was in much need of a laid back, relaxing, fun weekend, and this was just what the doctor ordered! 

Sunday, we went back to the AT&T store because Colten's charger wasn't charging his phone, and his mom's voicemail wasn't accessible. Those two fixes were super quick, and hopefully we won't be bothering that poor guy anymore! He was seriously great, though! Then, Colten headed off to work and I began on the grocery list and menu for the week. His mom came with me and we went grocery shopping, and then she headed out for her trek home. I settled in for the remainder of the night, played with my phone, and watched some t.v. :) 
Sure, I didn't get as much done around the house as I wanted, but that's okay. I also didn't get as much reading done as I had anticipated for the weekend. But it was so good to not worry about any of that and to just enjoy some quality time with my man and his mom. It doesn't happen too often, so we really just enjoyed the moment and didn't worry about anything else.

ROAD TRIP!

Wow, what a weekend! Is it okay to say that I was actually looking forward to Monday? 
This weekend, we traveled over 500 miles. Let that sink in for a minute... it feels like ROAD was all we saw...

500 miles. Now do you understand why I wanted so badly for Monday to roll around? I just want normal back! Is that too much to ask for? I think not! But, I do admit that we really had a great time with so much family and friends! 
Friday, we hit the road at 2:00pm to head south. Wayyyy south. Like, Port Lavaca south. 

When we left for the 3 hour drive, it was 78 degrees and sunshine! Seriously perfect weather for a road trip! We visited with Colten's friend, who we hadn't seen in months, and ate delicious ribs. What more could you ask for, really? Oh wait, there was vomiting involved - on Colten's part. Someone got a bit drunk and mixed just a few too many alcoholic beverages - variety is not your friend, sir. He really should know better. Serves him right, as I slept right through it all! 

Saturday, we woke up early-ish (early for someone with a hangover anyway...haha) and said our goodbyes to head even further south to Ingleside for Colten's niece's 6th birthday! I guess she's my niece too, but that just sounds crazy! Technically, my step-niece-in-law. Got it? Good. We usually have to miss out on such events because Colten is working, but he was fortunate enough to have the weekend off, so it was perfect! And it was much needed, too. It was so good to see him interacting with his family and enjoying some time away from the stresses of house chores, work, and school. A break is always a good thing! Colten's mom definitely enjoyed having all the kids together, which doesn't happen very often! It's hard to get everyone together with work schedules and other things going on, so we made sure to capture this moment for eternity, much to their dismay ;).

It was definitely a good time. And his sister & brother-in-law's house is gorgeous! I'm so, so glad that we were able to be there to celebrate a birthday and some family time.

Saturday night, we said our goodbyes to his family and got back on the road for another 2 1/2 hour drive to my parents' house. See? Isn't this fun? Living out of a car for the weekend? Blech. No thank you! I didn't enjoy being in the car for that long, as I'm not one to like confined spaces for such long periods of time, but I truly did enjoy the time with family and friends, so it was definitely worth it. It helps that we don't do it too often, so I really shouldn't complain...but this is my blog, and I wouldn't be true to it if there was zero complaining :). 

Now, where were we? Oh yes. On the road. Again. It was about 8:30pm when we headed out, and Colten so very sweetly volunteered to drive. Y'all, he drove for the entire trip this weekend! I'm so blessed (because I got to sleep)! Once we entered Rockport, the flashing lights blinded us. Yep, we got stopped by the county sheriff. One of the headlights on my car went out and we hadn't had a chance to fix it. Thankfully, he only gave us a warning and told us to fix it as soon as possible. Yes sir! So, we went on our merry way and continued our trek to the 'burg. I fell asleep and Colten did great just driving along. Until the flashing lights blinded us. Again. Y'all, we got stopped twice for the same reason in two different towns on the same drive! Halletsville PD pulled us over for our broken headlight and thankfully also only gave us a warning - and told us to get it fixed. By this second stop, it was 11:00pm. There was absolutely no way to get it fixed at this time of night. Therefore, we accepted the warning and went about our merry way for the 20 more minutes to my parents' house. 

Colten is not good with directions. He remembers roads and routes and things pretty well, but he just doesn't do directions. However, he followed them pretty well for being so late at night and being tired! We were on one of the backroads and oh so close to 'home' for the night when I saw them: 6 wild hogs running across the road, right in front of us. My heart caught in my throat and I was filled with dread. We were going too fast to stop in time to miss them. There were so many of them. It was late. We were tired. Please, God, place your guiding hand upon us and give us a miracle to not total our car by hitting a wild hog. Please. I begged and pleaded in those few seconds that I had. 

And a miracle we got! Thank God that we did not hit them. I don't know how Colten managed to miss every single one of them, but he did! I started crying - I don't know if it was from exhaustion or from the adrenaline that had been pumping through my body each and every time a cop pulled us over that night, but I was a mess! It wasn't like full-on ugly crying, but I was just ready to be home for the night and to sleep. We arrived at my parents' house around 11:30pm, and I went straight to bed. And I slept. 

Church was at 9:30 on Sunday morning and was in remembrance of my grandparents, so we went. Josh also showed up that morning to attend mass in honor of them. It was a great mass and it felt good to be back where I grew up. We had a delicious lunch and great entertainment...especially with these two dressed to the nines in their neon!

A cheeto and a lemon walk into a bar... Haha! It was too, too funny. And I'm so glad they obliged when I requested a picture - thanks guys! :) It's never a dull moment in my family, that's for sure! 

Colten worked on some homework with my dad's help, and mom and I enjoyed a few rounds of Skip-Bo, which made for a leisurely afternoon! And thank goodness, because it was COLD. The weather dropped to below 40 degrees, and the wind was torturous! I went from wearing shorts and flip flops for two days to bundling up in a blanket and a hoodie on Sunday! Thanks, Texas! 

We stayed at my parents' house for the Super Bowl game - which honestly wasn't much of a 'game'. I'm not an avid football follower, but for some reason, I was inclined to watch the game. Now, I have sort of an issue, here. Following Facebook statuses, so many people were accusing not only me, but others as well as jumping on the Seahawks bandwagon. I want to clear that up, mostly for my own sake to justify my position. It's the SUPER BOWL. There are only two teams playing. Whether or not I am a fan of a specific team, one must root for one team or the other. There are only two teams playing. What other option is there?! Yes, I was rooting for the Seahawks from the beginning, because they were the underdog and it was their first time to the 'big game'. Ever. Was I jumping on the Seahawks bandwagon? I don't think so. I was simply rooting for one of the teams I was currently watching that day. Simple as that. Got it? Kay, thanks! It's not my fault the Broncos decided to stay in bed and not participate! :) 

My favorite commercials were the Budweiser commercials. The puppy and the Clydesdale just melted my heart - like, my heart was shattered when the puppy was being taken away...see for yourself! 

Y'all. My heart!! Love, love, love this commercial! And the welcome home commercial was absolutely breathtaking! Check out the documentary on that, even if you saw the commercial already...

After Seattle blew Denver out of the water, we packed up and made the two hour drive home, arriving at 11:00pm. Exhausted is an understatement this morning... 

Overall, I'm so excited to have had such a wonderful weekend with my husband and our families. It was worth all the time on the road! But, I was honestly so happy to be home and to see Ace after being gone for the weekend! I missed him so much. I think he missed us too. :) And a huge thanks to my sister for checking in on him while we were gone! It truly means a lot - thanks sis! Love you!! 

Random Weekend Shenanigans

I am so completely and unbelievably thankful for three-day weekends! It means... 

+ only a four day work week 

+ more time to get things done around the house

+ more time with my husband

+ extra time to blog, even if you don't take advantage of said extra time 

+ time to hang out with family 

+ one less day to pay for gas going into work 

+ more sleep

+ more time to spend with the doggy - he's been soooo good and it was hard to leave him this morning

+ time to really prepare for the week ahead 

+ a break from overtime

So, this past weekend has been fabulous! It was also much needed after two weeks of overtime and two jobs! Woweeee was I tired! 

I enjoyed time with Colten, even if all we were doing was watching a tv show or eating supper. I took down our Christmas decorations - finally! Our home is now prepared for the upcoming month of love ;) {more on that to come later}. I went with Colten and my siblings to a nearby 'park', which resulted in lots of laugh and great quality time together. It also resulted in all of us inviting ourselves over to Hil's apartment for supper :). Thanks sis!! 

I also may or may not have watched an entire season of Betrayal in only two days. #sorrynotsorry. I've had it sitting on my DVR since it first aired back in October, and I finally decided to see what it was about, and I loved it! Obviously, otherwise I wouldn't have watched the entire season. Luckily for me, the season finale aired on Sunday night, so it was pretty much perfect timing! Yesterday also may or may not have included an accidental nap, which was glorious! Is that even a thing? Yes, yes it is. 

It was oh so nice to not have to wake up freakishly early to go to work yesterday. I got things done around the house that needed to be done, all while watching Grey's reruns. Just how I roll! 

Can you tell the guys were completely engrossed in their games? Ha! 

And now, I'll cease telling you about my mundane, but pretty chill weekend. Another weekend that was just my style: nothing super special or crazy, just the glory of the 'every day' and all of the wonder that I find in it. It makes me happy :). 

Like Living

Yes, it's January 13th and we still have our Christmas decorations up. And we're darn proud of it! Okay, maybe not 'proud'... but I ain't mad! I may or may not be that person that leaves the Christmas decor up until Valentine's Day {I only hope I'm kidding here...but you never know what life will throw our way between now and then!}. I had every intention of de-decorating this past weekend, but that just didn't happen. I had more important things to do. 

Like working 8 hours on Saturday. 
Like visiting a friend in the hospital {he's doing GREAT!}. 
Like spending time with my husband. 
Like spending time with God and praising His works. 
Like reading for fun. Whoa. 
Like giving Ace some quality time. 
Like preparing for another super busy week. 
Like sleeping. 
Like working on our financials. 
Like enjoying some me time. 
Like laughing uncontrollably at something crazy my husband did. 
Like appreciating the gorgeous 60 degree weather. 
Like catching up on some Pretty Little Liars and Ravenswood. 
Like indulging in some spinach dip. 
Like grocery shopping. 
Like arguing with my husband. 
Like praying. 
Like being deliriously silly from lack of sleep. 
Like falling asleep to some MercyMe. 
Like living. 

Who cares if my Christmas stuff is still up? The Christmas season only just ended yesterday, as we celebrated Jesus's baptism in the Jordan. I honestly loved walking into church and seeing the Christmas trees and poinsettias still up everywhere. My heart was overjoyed, and I enjoyed the services that much more, singing Hark! The Harold Angels Sing and Angels We Have Heard on High. 
My tree will be up this week as well, seeing as I'll be working nonstop and tending to other things. This weekend may allow time for tree removal, but if it's not, I'm okay with that. I'd much rather be doing the little things that make me happy. 

Family is Forever

Oh my goodness - WHAT A WEEKEND!! And wait, it's 2014? Are you sure? ... 
Regardless of the fact that I've been MIA all year, I had the most amazing weekend ever this past weekend. Seriously. It's what we all needed, and I'm so glad that we were able to enjoy it before the craziness of life hits us with full force. Because let's face it, today is back to reality for a lot of people, including myself! 
This weekend, I went on a surprise visit home. My sister {who now has a blog of her own thanks to her amazingly awesome sister!! ahhhh!!} was planning to head home for the weekend to just get away. I tagged along, and my brother jumped on the bandwagon with us on Saturday morning! So, we headed out for the two hour drive. 
On the way, my brother DJ'd for us with a playlist of random songs that took us back, back, back in time! {Drumline reference...love, love, love that movie!}. Just to name a few...

I told you, random and old school! It was so much fun and really made the drive fly by! And then we surprised my parents when all three of us showed up - so that was fun, too. AND IT ONLY GOT BETTER FROM THERE! I seriously cannot put into words how great this weekend was. But I'm trying anyway :). 
Once we got home, we trekked over to the old house that we grew up in, and boy, the memories came flooding back! We laughed and just reminisced over so much! Once we got back to mom and dad's house, we went through even more stuff that my mom had brought over from the old house already. We had such a fun time reading through old school assignments and projects - laughter is good for the soul, right? :) 
I had apparently written a hilarious story about how much I love to fish. Be on the lookout for that later this week ;). We also played some Future Cop on the Playstation 2! Another trip down memory lane! It just kept coming and coming, all weekend long! 
Sunday after church, we played some games, but the most popular and most fun was pictionary! We played that game and laughed so hard for well over 4 hours! I learned just how much I am not artistic, by any means... 
Overall, this weekend was a big trip down memory lane, and we loved every second of it! It was so good and refreshing to get together as a family and truly enjoy one another's company. We weren't trolling Facebook or glued to the TV the entire time. We actually spent quality time together! I think we all needed it, and we were all so happy the entire weekend! There was no bickering or arguing or fighting or anything. It was just a long, fun-filled weekend with my family. And it's one I'll cherish forever. 
I know that reading this, it may not seem like that great of a weekend, but I guess you just had to be there! We busted out some crazy dance moves, sang stupid song lyrics, got weird things stuck in our head, and laughed at each other's randomness. Blessed moments, I tell ya! And because we spent so much time away from our phones, I didn't really get any pictures of the craziness {I know, blogger fail}, but it was SO GOOD to be able to just live in the moment and enjoy time with my loved ones. God has truly blessed me with one amazing family, and for that, I'm forever grateful! He knew we needed this time together and He didn't disappoint! 

Delicious Creeps

And just like that, it's Monday once again! I had such a fabulous weekend, so we'll get right to the recap, shall we? 

one// We went to the Buda trail of lights with our cousins on Saturday. It was so.much.fun!  two// Nutella crepes - seriously so delicious. Be on the lookout for the recipe on the blog later this week!  three// flipflop. My new favorite wine. :) I may or may not have had half the bottle in one sitting...#sorrynotsorry four// We tried out a new church yesterday, and it definitely is promising! We'll be going back for sure. 
This year, we tagged along with our cousins to the Buda Trail of Lights, and I'm so glad we were invited! It got us out of the house and with endless entertainment at that. Win, win! We even got to ride a school bus to get there - there's really never a dull moment when we all get together! Colten is definitely a kid at heart and always plays with kids when we're around them, and this time was no different. He even painted his nose red {like Rudolph} with the kids. Precious! And we got a picture with Santa! :) 

 

  

 

 

 After the trail, we stopped by their house for some hot chocolate and then loaded up in my cousin's car to drive around looking at Christmas lights! The fun only continued, as I'm sure you've already guessed. My absolute favorite was a house that had their Christmas lights set to the tune of a radio station that was playing Christmas music. One of the songs was by the Trans Siberian Orchestra, and it was mesmerizing! I'd upload the video for you to see, but I couldn't get that to function this morning, so go head over to my Instagram to check it out! It's pretty awesome. We had so many laughs and just such a great time driving around looking at all of the lights. This one is my second favorite:

It was a huge, HUGE display in front of someone's house. I'm talking, so big I had to take this picture as a panoramic to get it all in one shot! But I love it :). It reminds us all of the true reason for the season, keeping Christ in Christmas!

Yesterday didn't go exactly as planned, but that's okay! It was better :). We started the day by attending a new church nearby our apartment - we're still in search for a church that we both love, and this one just might be a good contender! We'll go back a few more times first to really decide, but I loved it. :) After church, we were invited to my sister's house to watch her attempt at making Nutella Crepes - which was a total and complete success! They were so delicious and we were excited they turned out so well! Like I said before, be on the lookout for that recipe this week! It's a perfect {and easy} treat for Christmas morning! {or any morning, in our case...ha!} We then did some Christmas shopping and hung out for the rest of the day. It was great to relax and enjoy my sister's company! I wasn't as productive as I would've liked or had anticipated, but that's okay. Life is short, right?! :) The laundry can wait... And Colten, being the 'redneck' that he is, always pronounces things different than what they really are {mostly on purpose}. For example, if you're eating a trifle, he calls it a truffle. So, the crepes were no different - he kept calling them "creeps". Haha! He thanked her via facebook for the 'delicious creeps'. Y'all, my husband is hilarious. Seriously.

Have you ever had one of those weekends that was just absolutely perfect, but you really didn't do anything? 
Well, that was my weekend in a nutshell! I watched lots of Christmas movies, tried a new recipe, and spent quality time with my husband {who is still sick - when will it end?!}. We decorated a little more for Christmas and played with Ace! We were also productive and cleaned our apartment, including the mountains of laundry that have been staring at us for months weeks. 
Although we didn't do anything extravagant or have any company over, it was just perfect. Sometimes, it doesn't take expensive outings and busy schedules to feel fulfilled. We accomplished a lot that has been on my to-do list for weeks, and I'm pretty proud of that!  It was a nice, quiet, peaceful weekend at home, taking care of the little things. I loved it! I even got a few bags together full of donations I need to take to good will. Score! 
I just felt so blessed to be able to truly enjoy spending some time with my small family. With our schedules, that doesn't happen very often, so I'm just super thankful!

It's About That Time...

And just like that, it's Monday, again! The weekends just fly by faster and faster. And because of that, I like to really enjoy the time I get with my family and friends on the weekend when I'm not worried about work. Which leads me to a weekend recap!  
My poor hubby has been fighting a pretty sick cough for the past few weeks, which intensified tremendously on Friday evening! Too bad it was too late to seek medical attention at an urgent care walk-in facility... He promised he was okay enough to make it through the night, although his wheezing progressively worsened {only he would know if he needed to go to the ER}. Luckily, he was able to get some sleep that night, but he had to be at work at 5am. He left early and I took him to the walk-in clinic inside of the HEB Plus - RediClinic. He was seen fairly quickly, was diagnosed, prescribed medication, and sent on his way. Poor thing has bronchitis and a sinus infection! Wowza! Once we went back to tell his boss he would not be working the rest of the day, I took him home, medicated him, and tucked him in bed! I think he slept for more than 12 hours straight - he needed rest! He's slowly been getting better over the past two days, but why is it that men tend to be such awful patients?! There's absolutely no pleasing him no matter what I do! And he said yesterday was a 'boring' day - we ran errands and took care of some chores that needed to be done. He felt awful but didn't want to lay around in bed anymore...ugh. I sent him to the redbox to pick out a movie, and that seemed to do the trick! But man! It reminds me to be oh so thankful that he doesn't get sick too often :). 
That afternoon, my mom and her friend headed to Austin for a little girls' day with me and my sister! We went shopping, which obviously meant we'd be hitting up Maurice's. Favorite. Store. Ever! Afterwards, we headed to the mall for the rest of the evening, scoring some pretty awesome purchases along the way! It was fun, and it was great to just get out of the house for a few hours to hang with the girls. I also now have this here beauty gracing my new car! And, it smells like a frosted cupcake. Can we say amazing?! We wound down with dinner at Olive Garden, which was delicious! Their 'eat one, take one' option is pretty awesome! For $12.99, I was able to eat an entree & salad, and take home an entree for Colten! Win-win!


Sunday, I slept in late, and I'm not ashamed! I've been extra tired this past week and waking up super early every day has just taken its toll. I chose to not set an alarm that morning, and I woke up at 10am. It was glorious! Then, we went grocery shopping and took on a car repair ... it was only a headlight replacement, but in my new car, you have to go in through the wheel well, which was a total pain in the butt for my sick husband! Ugh! But he was a trooper, and after about an hour and two trips to the auto parts store {because the guy gave us the wrong bulb the first time...}, it was done! Yay! 

Last week was also a big moment for me, as I said goodbye to my trusty car! We definitely got our money's worth out of it, but it was time for it to go! She had over 270,000 miles on her and was still going! Pretty amazing feat if you ask me... I am completely blessed to have had it still going for as long as we did, and for God's favor and amazing timing when the new car came around. It's not 'new', but it's new to me! It is also truly glorious, as we were preparing {and saving} for a pricey car repair, but now we don't have that expense looming over us! God is so good! Although the car was still running, it wasn't dependable. I always worried every time I got in it to drive to work or to the store that something else would go wrong. Let's just say I was very cautious. Now, that burden is gone, and for that, I am so grateful! 
So, I took care of my sick husband, spent quality time with the girls, and crossed off several tasks from my to-do list this weekend. I'd say it was a weekend well spent! Here's to another great week ahead!

We're {BLUE}!

This weekend was a blast! Exhausting, but a blast nonetheless. And yes, it's a weekend recap on a Tuesday! I know, I know...the nerve! Oh well :).

This weekend was based solely on the #cousinfanclub. Yep, that's right! Our cousin, Haley, plays college soccer and we spent the weekend in Dallas supporting her! We're awesome, I know! We left Friday afternoon {we're seriously devoted, because we all had to be at work early in order to leave early to make the game! And by early, I mean like 5:30 people!}and drove to Commerce for the 7pm game. Of course, we hit serious traffic in Salado and we were struggling to make it to the game on time...which meant this girl had to get aggressive {cue cheer: be. aggressive. b-e aggressive. b-e a-g-g-r-e-s-s-i-v-e. be. aggressive!} with my driving skillz. Luckily, it worked, and we made the game! ASU won 1-0. :-) and we even were able to get a super close-up of her actually looking at us! Hooray for grass seats!

Since it's a super long drive for the team to travel and the next game was in Denton, the team stayed in a hotel. Well, we did too, but not the same hotel. We stayed in Lewisville. Luckily, we were able to spend some time with Haley while they had some down time - score! So, we hit up the mall for a while, and entertaining it was - to say the least.


I just love my brother's elephant ring...super sexy! And, well, Haley was rockin that bowtie! Seriously, fun times with all of us around! There's hardly ever a dull moment. We were able to take her out to eat and we ended up at Olive Garden. Is there really anywhere else that would do us justice? Nope. We didn't think so, either. Moving on... We then watched a movie in our hotel room until we had to take Haley back to her team :(. It was pouring rain at this point and we had to find one of her teammate's house, since she lives in the area. Eventually, after several different people with phones to map out the drive, we made it! Whew!

After dropping Haley off with her team, it was time for the #cousinfanclub to get to work! We headed to Wal-Mart {where else?!} to buy supplies for signs. As soon as we walked in the door, we saw it - the hair dye! They had all of their Halloween stuff out and there was a giant display of spray-on hair color. And of course we jumped right on that! We bought several cans of blue and one of gold glitter. Yes, this was about to happen. We also purchased several posterboards {in bright neon yellow}, sharpies, glitter, and then we saw them - the tie-dye kits and shirts! We ended up with white shirts and blue tie-dye supplies - we went all out!  There was no holding back. Once we got back to the hotel room, we got right to work! Yes, we tie-dyed shirts and made glitter posters in the hotel room, and it was awesome! None of us had ever tie-dyed shirts before, so it was pretty amusing to say the least.  The next morning, we had to be up at 5am to rinse out the shirts that had to set for 6-8 hours according to the instructions. Then, we set out {at 6am in Dallas} for a laundromat to wash and dry the shirts. So, just picture it. We're sleep-deprived, none of us are morning people anyway, and we are hunting down a laundromat to wash tie-dyed shirts to wear to our cousin's soccer game. :) 

The shirts came out okay for the first time doing it - none of them really ended up being what we had in mind, but they were cheap and it was just to support the blue ASU team, so they worked out just fine! Then, it was time to dye our hair blue. And blue it was! That stuff smelled so terrible...we had to run out of there on multiple occasions just to breathe in fresh air. According to my sister, it smelled like cancer. That was the only way she could describe it, although cancer doesn't have a smell. Just typical 'us' being us. NBD. So, at that point, we had blue hair, and we were covered in glitter. Josh was taking a nap and it was time to wake him up and blue-ify him. Yes, it's a word, just go with it ;). But before doing so, we set out to Wal-Mart again {after we were blue, mind you} to search for blue lipstick. Lucky for us, we didn't find any, but the stares we got for having blue glittered hair and blue tie-dyed shirts were hysterical! It's definitely a must and we'd highly recommend it. Ha! So, back to the hotel we went to recruit Josh to our blue group. Once we were all blued out and packed up, we checked out of the hotel and headed to Chili's to eat, since we still had a few hours until the game started. More stares. Awesome. But I don't blame them, there was a pack of blue people just chillin' out, eating some lunch. Ha! And we kept commenting, "We're BLUE!" to each other, because every time we'd look at each other, we'd bust out laughing because we couldn't believe just how blue we were! Seriously funny stuff. The things we do for family! :)

We headed to the game to cheer on #26! And we definitely stood out - I mean, we were BLUE! And not just blue, but bright ass blue. Sooo much blue. And sooooo much glitter! We could probably be seen from the space station. Ahahahhaa! Funny stuff. Seriously. So we sat through the game on a grass mountain and cheered on for ASU. It was a great game! Both teams were aggressive and were making great plays. Ultimately, however, ASU lost 2-1. And as soon as Haley walked up to us, her words were, "Y'all look crazy!" Ha! Success on our part :). Crazy and supportive and blue was just what we were going for! Winner winner, chicken dinner. She took a super quick shower so we could talk with her a while before they had to load up the bus and head home. It was so good to see her again and to be able to support her in the only way our family knows how: show up, and be blue! No other way to do it, in my opinion. She of course had to get a picture with her blue #cousinfanclub...memories we'll cherish forever!!

We then started on our 4 hour drive back to the ATX and got home around 9pm. We made the drive entertaining as to stay awake and not be bored out of our minds with the lack of things to look at - there were so many small towns and just openness...we kept spotting La Quintas {because that's the hotel we stayed at} and Cracker Barrel's {because that's the restaurant the team ate at on Friday night} all the way into Austin. It made for some laughs. 

In all, we had an awesome weekend all hanging out and supporting Haley on her soccer venture. She's a great athlete and we love watching her play! It was great to get out of Austin for a weekend and just have some crazy, random fun. :) I think she appreciates it, too.

*And it did wash out pretty easily! Just two shampoo's and a lot of scrubbing took care of it!

Monday. Again. Oh how I loathe thee.

 

BUT, my weekend was pretty fab, so let's just talk about that instead, shall we? I think so.

 

1// My sister has returned from her wayyy too long super awesome vacation to London and Paris! However, I was sadly informed that she does not have a picture like the one above - I mean, come on?! Epic fail in my book. Just sayin'. But, I'm glad she's home! Yay! {however, that also means that I no longer get to drive her luxury car and am back to driving old faithful...but that also means I don't have to spend as much gas as I have been because my car gets way better gas mileage...win, win?? sure, why not. let's go with that}

 

2// Fall weather y'all! That's what Saturday was all about. However, I must take the time to admit that I slept for like 15 hours from Friday to Saturday, and was pretty lazy the rest of Saturday as well. But, we had the windows open in the house, so that counts right? Yep. It does.

 

3// Saturday was also spent watching Grey's Anatomy reruns that I may or may not DVR to watch when nothing else catches my interest. Well, guess what? Nothing else did this weekend. Seriously. I couldn't get enough! And this has got to be my all-time favorite line:

 

Callie: Did anyone ever think you two were a couple?

Meredith: No, because we screw boys like whores on tequila.

Christina: Then we either try to marry them or drown ourselves.

 

I mean, sheer perfection right there, folks! Seriously.

 

4// So, the game in Dallas on Friday was rained out, but the weather cleared up nicely, and the San Antonio game was still on! So, we did the only obvious choice and went to watch our super awesome athlete of a cousin play collegiate soccer! Duh. What else do you do on a Sunday? Yeah, I don't know either. She was awesome, as always, and her fan club got lots of pics! We're a pretty entertaining bunch, people! Seriously. Best. Fanclub. Ever. We also toured the city in our attempt to locate the facility in which the girls were showering - epic fail {and a total waste of gas *sigh*}. Aaaannndd, as we got there, they were leaving {of course!} - so, we did what any good fanclub would do and we followed the bus to go eat! Luckily, our cousin is a rebel and chose to eat with her family instead of following the rules and sitting with her team. Yeah! She loves her fanclub, and I guess it's safe to say she probably missed her parents and sister too and not just the super awesome cousin fanclub ;). It was also pretty awesome to witness her first collegiate yellow card. Don't poke the bear! Great times. Oh yeah, and THEY WON! And, she got the assist to one of the goals and the assist to the assist for the other {that's a thing, I promise!}. The beast is back, y'all!

FAM{iLY}, FuN, & shoes. {Weekend Shenanigans}

This past weekend was excellent, and much needed as I hadn't had one in a while! So, what better way to capture all of the awesomeness than by linking up for Sami's Shenanigans?! Don't worry, I couldn't think of a better way, either. ;)

 

 

This weekend was also the first one that my darling husband has had off in a while - there were initially plans regarding his reasoning for requesting the weekend off, but they fell through. Lucky for me, because that meant we actually got to spend a weekend together! :) Saturday, we took advantage of it and spent the day running errands, together. It's always so much better to not have to do that alone. It was great quality time, and we accomplished a lot!

 

My amazing husband also surprised me with these 'get well' flowers after finishing up my retreatment on Thursday - so sweet!

We stopped by Academy to try on some shoes, as both Colten and I have been in pretty desperate need for new tennis shoes. And of course, my awesome brother was working, so it was a plus to get to visit with him in the process! We ended up staying for two and a half hours in the footwear department! Holy cow! But, it made his time at work go by faster, and Colten also found the steel toe workboots - score! However, he also found the above camo snake boots and tried to talk me into letting him get them. Umm, sorry darling husband, but you do not need snake boots to walk around our apartment. Nice try, though! ;)

Since we were at Academy for forever, it was time for Josh's lunch break, so we took him out to eat! Yay! Of course, we hit up Jack in the Box down the street - his fave! Then, this walked in the door... Needless to say we were highly entertained. I mean, seriously? Keep Austin Weird at its finest!

Sunday morning, we were off to church, and it was a great service! I truly cherish every time that we are able to worship as a couple.  Seeing how Colten's schedule differs weekly, this isn't always possible. But when it is, I'm one happy wife! Happy wife=happy life, right?! :)

Sunday afternoon, we headed over to Main Event Entertainment and met Josh after work. We started out with some bowling action, in which both Josh and I each won a game. And there's proof, people! It was a blast, as always! And, they are running their $5 FUNbination promotion through November 22, which means you get 'unlimited' play per activity for only $5! However, they do limit bowling to an hour at a time due to the high volume of people just itching to play. Colten wasn't too happy about this little fact, but we cheered him up and headed over for glow-in-the-dark putt putt golf! We had a blast, and it was definitely great to get out of the house! 

After golf, we headed back to Josh's place to order our new shoes! Score! His girlfriend was home, and we ever so kindly pretty much forced her to take a break from studying - sorry! But she hadn't heard of this song yet, so we definitely had to play it ... maybe on repeat for a few times...

We also introduced her into the world of music videos by Miley Cyrus - she knew of the songs and liked them...possibly until she saw the videos. You're welcome.

We ended the night by heading over to Sonic for supper, and I was introduced to the Ocean Water - THANK YOU! Super delicious, and I just so happen to work right next to a Sonic and can totally walk over during happy hour. :)
