{Employment} Anniversary

I'm so excited - because today is the one-year anniversary since I was hired as a paralegal!

A year ago today, I received the call that I was chosen for the position I so badly wanted.  Read more about that here.  I recall the interview quite well, and I was so sure that I wouldn't get it.  The attorney I interviewed with (I'm now his paralegal, ha!) told me not to take it personally if I wasn't chosen because he remembered the job hunting process so well and it's never really personal...not really.  I left that interview heartbroken and in tears.  Well, I waited until I got in my car for the tears to really start!  I called my mom and cried.  I knew it hadn't gone well, and he didn't want me for the position.

Well, little did little ol' me know!  I received the phone call the next week and I accepted the job!  It's been a roller coaster  of a year, and the agency has been through several changes in such a short amount of time, but I'm loving it! I truly feel as though I'm making a difference in people's lives, and my career has started at the same time.  I'm so blessed to be where I am today, and I'm forever grateful for this opportunity.  I look forward to what the next few years bring, as I know it will be just as exciting!  It's never boring or dull at work, and I can honestly say that I've not once gone to work dreading the day.  Working doesn't really feel like 'work', and that is truly special.

So, I've survived an entire year, and my co-workers rely on me and are glad to have me (yes, they've said so and I'm not just saying that!).  I'm learning so much about this career and I'm so glad that I followed my heart and changed majors several years ago.  It was a complete 180 from what I had planned on, but I stuck by my decision, had the support of my then-boyfriend-now-husband and my family, and I was all set!  Little did I know (again) just how happy I would be and how fitting this career path is for me.  God truly has shown me the power of His guiding hand.  It's definitely been a rough path...the whole college thing...but it's all worth it in the end.  He knew what He was putting me through, and He knew that it was all a part of my journey on this earth.  And to everyone who helped and supported me along the way, {thank you}.
